Attic- The Main Source Of Your Homes Energy Loss

The attic is the part of the house which is easily over looked, but it is also the part of the home that is most susceptible to the external temperature changes.   If you attic is not properly insulated it can lead to huge amounts of energy loss and the fluctuation of the temperature within your home.  Proper attic spray foam insulation serves as the key to limit and control the effect of the external temperatures on your homes interior environment, monthly energy bills and energy loss.  It works by ensuring an effective thermal and air barrier in your home.  The way it does this is by its massive insulation value and its engineered design to expand into every nook and cranny sealing off any air leaks into or out of your home.

Keep Pests Out of Your Attic

Did you know that Rats and other Pests love Fiberglass Insulation!  Yes its true…   Rats, Opossums, Mice, Squires, Chipmunks, Skunks, Raccoon all might be cute and cuddly to look at, but you do not want them in your attic.  If they get into your home they can carry all sorts of disease, mites, fleas and their urine and feces can harm you, your family and your home in many ways.   These pests love Fiberglass and cellulose insulation to create a warm environment that is a perfect condition for nesting.   The expanding properties of Spray Foam Insulation seals holes and entry points making it almost impossible for pests to enter.  Plus the way that spray foam insulation has been designed it discourages nesting.   Basically rats and mice love fiberglass insulation, but hate spray foam insulation and we like it that way.

This amazing product also discourages insects from entering your home by sealing off all small holes leading into your home.

Keep Dust and Allergens out of your home

Did you know that as much as 70% of your homes dust and allergens can come from a poorly sealed attic and poorly sealed HVAC air handling equipment ducting.  Yes all this is in your attic and spray foam insulation can help with this highly important area in your home as well.  On a normal home there are ridge vents, gable end vents and all sorts of other vents that vent air into and outside of your home.   Correctly installed spray foam insulation in your attic removes the need of these vents and seals them off.  This creates a sealed interior space that will keep dust and allergens out of your attic.   Many say.. why is it important to keep dust and allergens out of my attic?  Well the reason is that this dust and allergens eventually make it into the interior of your home.  They enter through small air leaks through out your home, such as around light fixtures, cracks in ceilings, attic doors, pipe penetrations and other voids.  The other way they enter your home is through your homes heating and cooling system.  In most cases your homes HVAC system is either located in the attic or at least has ducting running through your attic.  This duct work often has huge air leaks that suck in air from the attic, then this air and the pollutants in that air are placed into your home.    Spray foam will keep this from happening.  If you or one of you family members have problems with allergies this is one of the biggest improvements in the home you can do to help them.

Should I be more concerned about the R-value of the insulation in my deck
    or the thickness??

How do figure cellulose has more of an r-value than bibs. Not true.

Yes! A voice of reason. It is a shame that the retro-fitters out there do
not care to understand the simple logic of air-sealing first.

THANK YOU! I would have simply wasted several hundred dollars thinking I
    was doing something! Great video!

you guys are making it seem more than what it is. the heat loss thru both
small holes and area’s are so minute that you will never feel it. you just
wanna justify the high price tag you quote people. i will kinda agree with
    the chimney leaks though
